Members of the newly formed Hong Kong Maritime and Port Board headed by the secretary of Transport and Housing Professor Anthony Cheung (pictured) have arrived in Greece for Posidonia 2016, the largest shipping gathering on this year’s maritime calendar.
During their four-day stay the group will be actively promoting Hong Kong’s virtues as a premier maritime hub in the region as well as sharing their insight in to China’s Belt and Road initiative.
The HKMPB which was set up in April this year comprises members from government and its agencies including InvestHK and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council as well as other maritime industry leaders. The new body has been tasked with developing and presenting maritime policy initiatives to government and promoting Hong Kong as maritime cluster internationally.
In addition to attending the Posidonia exhibition the HKMPB will today attend a business luncheon co-arranged by the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises and Hong Kong Trade Economic Office Brussels.
In 2014, 1,521 companies from 93 countries exhibited at Posidonia. The event welcomed 4,434 visitors from across the world together with 14,987 local attendees.
