In celebration of Hong Kong Maritime Week (19-26 November 2017), Asia Maritime is holding a special Breakfast Briefing at the world-renowned Foreign Correspondents Club in Hong Kong on 20 November 2017.
The Briefing offers a multi-faceted examination of the impact of the 2014 amendments of the Maritime Labour Convention 2006.
Despite the introduction of the 2014 Amendments in 2016, crew continue to be abandoned all too frequently often left for months without wages being paid and left with less than the bare necessities while stuck on board.
Fatigue continues to be endemic among seafarers and the levels of suicide are entirely unacceptable.
Our panel of experts will offer valuable insight into what the best are doing to enforce the letter of the Convention as well as the spirit.
Gerry Buchanan Managing Director LISCR (Far East)
Captain Somasundar Senior Manager Anglo Eastern Ship Management
Dr Olivier Lo Medical Director International SOS
Suvendra Bagchi Divisional Manager, Management Systems Certification ABS
The Briefing will take place between 8:30am to 10:30am 20 November 2017.
